Burundi lies in the heart of Africa, a beautiful yet tragically broken nation.  This tiny nation has suffered 12 years of ethnic conflict; life expectancy is just 45 years old; over 50% of children are chronically malnourished, and 1 in 10 die before they reach the age of 5.

Daily life in Burundi is extremely hard.  Most of the population try to make a living from farming, however many struggle to provide even a meal a day for their families. In too many families extreme poverty means that their children go without food, lack access to even basic health care, and are unable to attend school.

However, it’s not all bleak! In a region called Ryarusera in rural Burundi, a story of hope and transformation is unfolding. Hundreds of lives have already been changed and this is just the beginning!
